Circular by design: the future of responsible tubing.

Today’s infrastructure still relies on oil-based plastic tubing, such as PVC, PE and PP; materials that come with hidden costs for both environmental and human health. The extraction and disposal of these tubes are costly and frequently neglected. Overtime, these plastics degrade into micro and nano plastics, persisting in the soil and contaminating ecosystems and entering the food chain. Aware of the consequences of our choices, we provide a breakthrough technology, one born of mindful action, to disrupt this cycle: A wellscreen made from 100% bio-based, designed to perform during use and biodegrade in soil once its intended function is no longer required.

Our Materials

To unlock its full potential, PLA must be engineered to biodegrade in real soil environments. PolyBiotic Solution makes that possible. Our PolyBiotic-PLA is mixture of PLA granulate and specially developed microbes. PB-PLA comprises multiple microbes embedded in the polymer matrix. Each of these microbes can degrade the core polymer, PLA, at a range of conditions. Using PB-PLA not only increases the degradation rate for one specific condition, but rather a whole range of conditions: pH, temperature, salinity; enabling reliable performance under different installation conditions.

PLA is a hydro-biodegradable Bioplastic derived entirely from renewable raw materials such as maize, sugar cane, potato waste. By adjusting composition of the material, it can be engineered either to degrade relatively quickly to remain durable for extended periods. However, effective biodegradation without industrial composting or thermophilic anaerobic digestion can take up to 80 years, raising the risk that PLA contributes to the same pollution associated with conventional oil-based plastics.
